Book Review of Rich Dad for Entrepreneurs

This is a book review of rich dad for the benefit of entrepreneurs and it should make interesting reading. There are some books that you will read and it will just change all the fundamental beliefs that you hold about life. Rich Dad, Poor Dad is one of those revolutionary books that tend to shatter the belief that formal education is the key to a successful life.

The book is a personal narrative of a man’s experience with his two dads and what they taught him about wealth. His biological dad – the poor dad, was highly educated, had top government employment and was poor. His other dad – the rich dad, has very little education, was never employed by the government, and was very wealthy.

The difference between these two men and the principal theme of this book lies in one word – financial education.

And this is what makes Rich Dad, Poor Dad to be a very valuable, and equally controversial, book. Its chapters form an important manual for financial education which is an indispensable tool for anyone who really desires to become wealthy.

Book Review of Rich Dad 

The book was written by Robert T. Kiyosaki, Starting with chapter one titled “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, the author starts by giving comparisons between his biological, poor dad and the father of his friend, Mike, the rich dad. The two boys learn a very important lesson on how to escape the ‘Rat Race’ when they are paid only three cents for three hours of work at one of Rich Dad’s grocery stores. When the boys start complaining about the poor pay, Rich Dad then offers to give them a raise with the agreement that they will learn the lessons from him.

Chapter two book review of rich dad, “The Rich Don’t Work for Money,” talks about those who are playing it too safe and avoid taking risks, or they are too busy working to secure their jobs that they miss out on opportunities, these people usually end up poor. Only those who take these risks and identify opportunities are able to turn it into riches. Chapter three “Why Teach Financial Literacy,” shows the importance of knowing the difference between assets and liabilities and how the proper application of this knowledge can lead to wealth, while chapter four “Mind Your Own Business,” teaches on how to become your own boss by focusing on building assets.

Chapter five of the rich dad poor dad book - “The History of Taxes and the Power of Corporations” shows how the poor are manipulated by the system, while the rich leverage on the system. Chapter six “The rich invent money,” gives examples of how self-doubt can deprive you of riches, instead, being “bold and adventurous” helps put some people ahead.

In chapter seven “Work to Learn, Don’t Work for Money”, the author shows why it is important to keep learning new skills as some people might be “one skill away from great wealth.” Chapter eight “Overcoming Obstacles” makes a list of five personality traits that prevent growth, these are fear, cynicism, laziness, bad habits, arrogance. Instead of dwelling on these limitations, the author advises that you ask; “What’s in it for me?” and focus on achieving it. 

Chapter nine - the book review of rich dad “Getting Started” gives helpful nuggets on how to acquire and grow personal wealth. Chapter ten “Still want more? Here are some to do’s” still builds on the nuggets given from the previous chapter, getting fresh ideas, keep learning and making money with little or no capital.

The richest man in Babylon book was written by George S. Clason and narrated by Denis Waitley and it’s for a duration of 2 hours 45 minutes. Most times we often wish there was a rule book to help guide us through some tough decisions that we have to make in life, from relationships, health, and money.
